RAGHU, YAMA, GULIKAN KALAMS

Raghu and Yama ganda kalam are both inauspicious period during which time no auspicious activies are started. Both occur for 90 minutes daily and varies from day to day. Sun Rise time is used to compute 90 minutes. Raghu is the 8th graham and Yama is connected to Kethu graham which is 9th graham. Gulikan is devoted to Bhagvathi and there are day and night Gulikans.  Gulikan is not forbidden for auspicious activities but for inauspicious only. If pithru karma is done by mistake during Gulikan it has to be repeated after lapse of the Gulikai muhurtham. If some important task is to be done in the Raghu or Yamakandam kalam, it can be done as our elders have given ideas to face them. Just worship one's diety and  recite Kolaru Pathigam (10 verses on Lord Siva) or stotras.

NALAYIRA DIVYA PRABHANDAM

VEDA
VEDA is God. Veda meanings are not easily transparent, understandable.  There is inherent meaning which can be learnt only through Guru.  In early days VEDA is learnt only through sound and so there was no need of any alphabets. The sound of Veda mantras always circulate the universe and are eternal for the benefit of entire mankind, belief, mental strength, wisdom, knowledge or vision. It manifests the language of the gods in human speech. The Vedas regulate social, legal, domestic and religious customs of the Hindus to the present day.  It states the duties of everyone at birth, marriage, death etc and especially Hindus owe their allegiance to the Vedic rituals.

Tradition is 12 Alwars coming from all walks of life and strata of society including one woman between fifth and nineth century in the Tamil speaking region of South India composed exceedingly beautiful poetry in the praise of  Lord  travelling from place to place.  The Philosopher Saint Nathamuni of 9-10th century by extraordinary efforts recovered the great works of 12 Alwars and arranged them as Divya Prabhandam.  It has 4000 pasurams and actually it contains the essence of four Vedas.
