DO’s AND DON’Ts IN DAY TO DAY LIFE - PART 19

HYGINE
Don’t  insert fingers to feel whether water is hot or cold.
But pour a little bit on to the hand to test whether it is hot or cold.
Don’t  use others slippers, cloth, garland, water pot, seat and bed.
Don’t  clip the banana when keeping it in pooja or offering to God.

Similarly avoid using nails when sandal paste is offered to God or when taking it as prasadam.

If an animal falls in a well and dies, water will be cleaned  if we remove 10 pots of water from the well and then we can use the water. Bu if a man dies, the entire water has to be removed. Later we have to put Pancha Gavya and Punyaham (sanctified holy water) in to the well. Then only it will become clean.

The feet of a Brahmin is very holy. The house where his feet touches is a pure house. It seems Moodhevi (Jyeshta) lives on their back side. So they should not be made to sit on the floor but only on a mat or a piece of wood without nails.

When a woman is in her periods
(i)   For three days we should not go near her.
(ii)  we should not talk with her,
(iii)  We should not hear her voice while we are taking food.
(iv) We should not take left over food or even drink by her.
(v)  She is supposed to cook only after 8.30AM on the fifth day after purificatory bath.

Cutting of nail and hairs
Nails and hairs can be considered as things without life. These have to be cut by the householder every month. He should not cut them himself. They should not be cut on Prathama, Chathurthi, Sashti, Ashtami, Navami, Ekadasi, Dwadasi, Chaturdasi , Amavasya and Pournami among thithis and on Tuesdays , Fridays and Saturdays among days.
