DO’s AND DON’Ts IN DAY TO DAY LIFE - PART 4

So if we take approx 6o clock as surayodhayam, Brahmamurtham starts from 4oclock.  The period between 4AM to evening 8PM is divided into 8 parts. In the first part of time we do Devayagnam.
The Brahmin is not the title, getting only by birth to a Brahmin Couple.  One has to follow the rituals too and  adhere to the 6 duties required of a Brahmin. We all know that the varnas are based on the Job done by the respective persons. The Brahmin is primarily entitled to learn the vedas & to teach the vedas.  By doing this he acts as a sole savior of all the varnas as he should do Vedic chanting, perform yagnas etc for the welfare of the all the communities and jevvasarasis including animal, plant etc.

In the 2nd Part (i.e., from 6AM) the following are to be done. sishyas are be taught Vedas (veda adhyapanam), flowers are to be plucked by the person doing the pooja,  procure other materials such as money, materials etc for pooja and daily yagna expenses(only limited to pooja/yagna) from good persons.  Brahmins have got a right to get Dhanam and he has to give  considerable part of what he received as Dhanam for Ritviks for performing yagnam etc. Getting dhanam and giving dhanam is the karma of a Brahmin and it is called ‘Prathikraham’.  For the above duties  one would have taken the entire 2nd part and some time of the third part.
